Recertification
A Fellow of The American Board of Animal Acupuncture (FABAA) will maintain certification status through continuing education course that are verified every four years. Recertification Verification forms must be submitted with documentation and fee 6 weeks prior to applicants expiration date of current ABAA certification. A minimum of 20 continuing medical education hours in the field of animal acupuncture or veterinary medicine will meet recertification criteria.
Continuing Medical Education (CEUs)
CEUs for Animal Acupuncture – The following are approved for continuing education.
1. Seminar or workshop: One hour of continuing education for each contact hour on animal acupuncture, herbal medicine for animals, nutrition for animals, animal handling, or western veterinary science.
2. Course at an accredited educational institution: 15 hours of continuing education on animal acupuncture, herbal medicine for animals, nutrition for animal handling, or western veterinary science.
3. Teaching an approved continuing education on animal acupuncture, herbal medicine for animals, nutrition for animals, animal handling, or western veterinary science. One hour of continuing education for each hour taught;
4. Having an article on the practice of acupuncture or TCM medicine published in a professional journal or in a text book on animal acupuncture, herbal medicine for animals, nutrition for animals, animal handling, or western veterinary science: 10 hours of continuing education;
5. Having a text book published relating to the practice of animal acupuncture, herbal medicine for animals, nutrition for animals, animal handling, or western veterinary science: 15 hours of continuing education.
